Frequently asked questions
Is hiring an architect mandatory?
For private individuals in France, it is mandatory as soon as the project’s floor area exceeds 150 m², including when an extension takes the total above that threshold. For companies (including property holding companies), it is mandatory regardless of size, with rare exceptions.
How much does an architect cost?
The real question is: how much does a poorly designed project cost? Square metres lost to an overly long corridor, spaces that serve no purpose, a quote never put out to competition, items forgotten or quietly slipped into a quote… These extra costs never appear on an architect’s invoice, yet they cost far more, and for years. Our fees are there precisely to limit them: a plan where every square metre counts, contractors put in competition, quotes checked line by line and a building site supervised to the end. An architect does not cost you money: you gain quality, peace of mind and, very often, budget.
In practice, our fees depend on the scope of the service and the complexity of the project. After an initial conversation, we send you a detailed, no-obligation proposal broken down by stage.
How long does planning permission take?
The standard review period is two months for a private house and three months for other projects. It can be longer in protected areas, especially when the heritage officer’s opinion is required.
Do you work outside Strasbourg and Haguenau?
Yes. We work throughout the Bas-Rhin and across Alsace. Get in touch to check the feasibility of your project.
